Well, everyone knows Uxbridge-Shimoda went independent in 2026, but what our theory presupposes is: you might still have questions.

How can I support Uxbridge-Shimoda as a member?

What’s different about this new membership?
  • For FoDs, this membership just works. It’s easy and convenient to join and you can take advantage of your membership benefits right away.
  • For Uxbridge-Shimoda, this new platform gives us more freedom to stay in touch with members directly and communicate new benefits and enhanced features immediately.
  • Members have the choice to set up a monthly membership, or pay for a whole year upfront.
  • You’ll have new convenient payment options available including ApplePay and Google Pay.
  • If you want to contribute without becoming a member, you can do that too!
  • One of the most important differences with this new membership is that all of your support goes straight to the shows with no middle-man.


What are the changes to member benefits?


Will there still be bonus episodes?
  • Yes! Members will still have access to the same bonus episodes they know and love, along with new bonus episodes coming out every month.
  • The Uxbridge-Shimoda Bonus Feed is instantly available to members and it’s easy to add to your podcatcher of choice when you become a member.


What happened to my existing MaxFun membership?
  • If you were a MaxFun member who only supported our shows, the network will discontinue your membership automatically.
  • If you supported us along with other shows, MaxFun will automatically reallocate your support to those other shows.

Why did Uxbridge-Shimoda go independent and what does that actually mean?
  • The Maximum Fun Network was a great home for Uxbridge-Shimoda for ten years and we parted ways amicably in April, 2026 to become independent.
  • Being independent allows us to communicate directly with our members and make our own decisions about how we do business, from enhancing membership benefits to working more directly with advertisers.
  • The point of this change is to ensure a bright future for our shows for years to come!

  • No tea! (Sorry, Kevin.)


 How will the new Ad-Free FoD feeds work?
  • When you sign up as a member one of the instant benefits for all members is access to our Ad-Free FoD feeds:
    • The Greatest Generation Ad-Free FoD Feed
    • Greatest Trek Ad-Free FoD Feed
    • Uxbridge-Shimoda Bonus Feed
  • These are new, member-only RSS feeds that you will be able to easily add to your podcatcher of choice, no matter which app you use!
  • While the existing public RSS feeds will contain ads and membership messages, the FoD Feeds will always be ad-free for members.


Will there be more ads on the existing public RSS feeds?
  • Yes, because selling more ads will help us continue to make the shows and provide them for free (with ads) to non-members.

What if I’m a member but I’m still hearing ads?
  • If you’re hearing ads on Greatest Gen or Greatest Trek, it means that you’re listening to the existing public feeds rather than your Ad-Free FoD feeds.
  • The new, Ad-Free FoD feeds can be added to your podcatcher of choice after you sign up as a member. Look for the add button on your subscriber page.
  • You’ll know you’ve added the Ad-Free FoD feeds to your podcatcher when you see the premium gold border around the show logos.
 
Will old episodes of TGG and GT go behind a paywall?
  • Nope! The entire catalog of GT and TGG will continue to be available:
    • Members can listen to the back catalogue in their Ad-Free FoD feeds.
    • Non-members can listen to the back catalogue free with ads on the existing public RSS feeds.  


What is the best Star Trek film?
  • Star Trek V with a bullet...made of a tooth.


What’s happening with Priority One Messages?
  • Personal and Promotional P1 messages will remain a part of both shows and they’re available to book now at podshop.biz.
  • We’ve improved this process to allow you to pick the date you want your P1 to air. If a date is not showing as available to pick, that means it’s already fully-booked (and you’ll need to select another date for your message.)
  • If you booked a P1 through MaximumFun previously, it’s on the schedule and will air in the order it was received.
  • If you have questions about a P1, email P1@uxbridge-shimoda.com.


What’s happening with Wholesome?
  • Wholesome is going to remain its own thing. No change there!
